The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, a 30,000-member professional organization based in Austin, Texas,  is dedicated to educating qualified individuals (Certified Fraud Examiners), who are trained in the highly-specialized aspects of detecting, investigating, and deterring fraud and white-collar crime.

Certified Fraud Examiners come from various professions, including auditors, accountants, fraud investigators, loss prevention specialists, attorneys, educators, and criminologists. CFEs gather evidence, take statements, write reports, and assist in investigating fraud in its varied forms. CFEs are employed by most major corporations and government agencies, and others provide consulting and investigative services.

Qualifications for CFE Membership:

• Be of high moral character
• Meet the minimum educational and experience requirements
• Two years related professional experience
• Pass the Uniform CFE Examination (10 hours)
• Maintain required continuing professional education (60 hours each 3-year period)
• Member in good standing
• Agree to abide by the Bylaws and Code of Professional Ethics of the
  Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
