Policy Implementation

Keep the following in mind when implementing Internet or e-mail policies:

• Tie the policies to business issues and policies, such as confidential materials or anti-harassment

• Set clear guidelines on e-mail and Internet usage and access

• Communicate all policies to employees clearly, thoroughly, and repeatedly

• Have employees read and sign off on the policy

• Use "banners" to remind employees of policies

• Update employees whenever policies are changed

• Respect employee privacy when possible
