Software FAQs

I have a MAC and the program requires Windows. What can I do?

All students in the STU MBA program should have a computer capable of running Windows. This is the standard PC software for business and many courses require you to run Windows programs. There are several options.

1. Obtain ongoing access to a Windows computer (NOT in the STU labs) where you can load programs and study from them.

2. Buy a cheap Windows computer ($400-$500).

3.Add Windows to your MAC computer:

If you have an Intel processor and OS X, you can use Apple's free BootCamp Beta version. Beta versions come with some potential problems. You must buy Windows itself at any retailer (XP is about $200).
    Apple - Boot Camp

If you have an Intel processor, you can purchase one of the following (there are also others). They have free trials. Prices are $60-80.
    Virtual pc by Parallels, Inc.
    CodeWeavers - CrossOver Mac

If you have the old Non-Intel processor - educational version is about $150.
    Virtual PC for Mac

Note: the above is for information only and does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee that software will meet your specifications. It is suggested you consult with a MAC expert prior to purchasing software.
