Reading:

It is very important that the reading assignment be completed before the course begins.  Please read both books and highlight key points.   Bring them to class. There will be an open book, but timed, test the first day of class on the book contents. You will also need to refer to them during class, for group work, etc.

Albrecht book: You may skip Chapter 14.  This book concentrates on employee, management, investment, and organizational fraud and provides an in-depth analysis in these areas.  Additionally, it presents a fraud framework within which all types of fraud can be viewed.

Allen book: You may skip Chapter 9.  This book is very practical; categorizing and explaining all the major types of fraud. It also provides basic preventive measures for each type of fraud and a comprehensive glossary (in the back) of fraud terms.
