Case Questions

 

1. For each of the following types of information systems, indicate whether or not it is present in the new systems at HBH. Give clear examples and provide credible support. If you say it is present, you need specific examples. If you say it is not present, you must support why you feel it is not.

A. Transaction Processing Systems (TPS).

B. Office Automation Systems (OAS).

C. Management Information Systems (MIS).

D. Decision Support Systems (DSS).

E. Executive Support Systems (ESS).

2. Centralization/decentralization of people.

A. Are the INTERNAL IS PEOPLE centralized or decentralized at HBH? Provide complete support. Do not consider any external consultants in your answer - only employees.

B. Is this the best solution for HBH? Why or why not? Provide complete support.

3. HBH used consultants.

A. What specific stages of the development life cycle were the consultants involved in? List all stages in your answer and for each indicate whether they were involved or not in that stage. Support your answer.

B. For each stage that you said they were involved in, explain specifically what the consultants did. Summarize in your own words and then support. Do not just quote the case.

C. For each stage listed in 3B, was the use of consultants appropriate for HBH? Answer and fully support each use separately.

4. Testing and cutover:

A. Briefly explain the method of testing that was used for this system. Support.

B. Was this the best method of testing for this system? If so, support; if not, what would have been better and support.

C. Briefly explain the method of cutover that was used for this system. Support.

D. Was this the best method of cutover for this system? If so, support; if not, what would have been better and support.
