1. Objectives

The case listed three types of objectives for the new system (on the 3rd page).

A. For EACH type of objective state whether or not the objective was accomplished and to what extent. Support your position on each with facts from the case. Specifically state any shortcomings in fully accomplishing objectives.

2. Thin clients

A. What is a thin client?

B. How specifically were they used in this organization?

C. Was the use of thin clients appropriate for this organization and application? Support your answer fully.

3. Mobile carts

Mobile carts were used in the solution. An alternative would have been tablet computers or PDAs.

A. List and briefly explain (1-2 sentences) at least 4 advantages of the mobile cart solution (versus the stated alternatives).

B. List and briefly explain (1-2 sentences) at least 4 disadvantages of the mobile cart solution (versus the stated alternatives).

C. Given the objectives you analyzed in #1, were mobile carts the best solution for this organization in this application? Support your answer fully.

4. Networks

A. Does this application use a WAN? Support your answer using the definition of a WAN and facts from the case.

B. Does this application use a LAN? Support your answer using the definition of a LAN and facts from the case.

5. Security

A. List and briefly explain at least four security issues (not solutions) for the new system.

B. Explain at least two ways the new system is more secure than the old.

C. Explain at least two ways the new system is less secure than the old.
