Case Questions


1.    List and briefly support at least five major internal strengths.

2.    List and briefly support at least five major internal weaknesses.

3.    List and briefly support at least five major external opportunities.

4.    List and briefly support at least five major external threats.

5.    For each of the alternatives below, list at least three advantages and at least three disadvantages.

A. Develop a line of athletic shoes for people with foot or back problems.

B. Create a new national advertising campaign for their aerobic and walking shoes using endorsements from podiatrists and chiropractors.

C. Significantly increase their sponsorships of aerobics events and teams.

D. Develop a series of women's aerobics videos that also promote their shoes.

E. Create a new line of "fashion" athletic shoes.

6. Create alternative:

A. Create one additional reasonable (and different) strategic alternative for the company. State in one clear and complete sentence.

B. List at least three advantages and at least three disadvantages.

7. Recommendation:

A. What one major strategy should they pursue now? You must be specific (not generic) and support fully. Support for your choice being the most appropriate choice is critical. You may select any of the alternatives given in #5 or your proposed alternative in #6. Use the following outline to answer this question:

1. State your recommended strategy.

2. Explain your strategy.

3. Support why your strategy is appropriate.

4. Support why your strategy is the best strategy.
